Destroyers and Daredevils: Heroes

Armorman

Duane Engram Jr. inherited his name, his technical aptitude, and his powered armor design from his famous father, the original Armorman. He's probably stayed a little too true to dad's model. What was state-of-the-art in super-suits in the 1970's looks a little old-fashioned today. The current Armorman suit protects the wearer well enough, has updated sensory and communication packages, and allows Duane to leap small buildings in a single bound. But flashy new weaponry and other razzle-dazzle futuristic technology is conspicuously missing.

What "Armorman Junior" lacks in raw firepower he makes up for in heart. He's quick to leap to the defense of others and will often to jump in front of a blast meant for a teammate or innocent bystander. His fearlessness, selflessness, and experience make him an inspiration to others and the natural leader of the Indestructibles.

Red Hildegarde

Hildegarde claims to be the true daughter of the last of the mighty Valkyrie and the grandchild of Wotan, King of the Gods. As she tells it, she was born in the aftermath in a great cataclysm in Valhalla and allowed to sleep in secret over the centuries. Recently, she was awakened by Aberich, King of the Dwarves, because Loge, God of Fire was planning to use her as a weapon during Ragnarok, the Final Battle. Or something. Red Hildegarde isn't entirely sure.

Red Hildegarde has no memory of her ancestors and no knowledge of the modern world. She does have a magic sword, a flying horse, and incredible skill in hand-to-hand combat. She is pleased to count the other Indestructible as friends. They fight with honor and purpose and help her navigate this strange land where she finds herself.

Blastar

Siting back and doing nothing while there's evil in the world has never been an option for Mark Severence. He spent his teenage years and early adulthood protesting. You could always find him marching with a sign in hand, chained to an old-growth tree, or forming a human chain with like-minded righteous souls. Mark got more than he bargained for when he attempted to stop a new and untested mega-collider by stepping into the live particle stream. He was instantly annihilated.

Mark was reborn as a celestial being of pure light.  But, as it turns out, his fellow celestial beings didn't really share or appreciate Mark's version of enlightenment. They essentially devolved and demoted him back to human form.

Back as flesh-and-blood, Mark has retained the ability to control raw force and kinetic energy. He can projected it in waves, walls, or defensive bubbles. He can absorb and store the energy from attacks directed at him, and release that energy in powerful blasts.

His ascension and fall didn't dim Mark's intensity in any way. He's always fighting for what he thinks ls is right. His teammates appreciate that sense of purpose. They often find themselves holding him back when Blastar's passion gets the better of him.

Space Racer

After a chance encounter with alien artificial intelligence, astronaut Allan Chandler was rebuilt and reborn as the amazing Space Racer. He is now one with his enhanced flight suit. With it, he can manipulate gravitational and magnetic forces to soar through the air and hurtle through the cosmos at unimaginable speeds. He's surrounded by an energy field that protects him from the vacuum of space and from high-speed collisions back on earth.

Partly due to his solo expeditions through the vastness of the galaxy, and partly because he is trapped in his life-supporting suit, literally surrounded by an impenetrable force field, Allan Chandler feels profoundly alone. He worries he is losing touch with his humanity. He appreciates the attempts at companionship from his fellow team members, but ultimately seeks a way to remove the suit and try to live a normal life. Until then, he'll work to defend humanity from terrestrial and extra-terrestrial threats and can be seen racing, head-first, into danger.

Skylark

Virginia Hunt was named after the state where her mother was born. If you met her, you might think Virginia was born there as well. In fact, she was born and raised seventy light-years away on the planet of Perator. She grew up hearing stories of Earth, about the history, lives, and cultures of the people who live here. Only recently has Virginia finally had the opportunity to come to the planet she has heard so much about. She loves the natural beauty and tranquility of her mother's home-world compared to harsh and savage environments of her native planet. She finds great joy in the kindness, love, and generosity she sees in the people of Earth, but is also horrified to discover so much barbarism, brutality, and prejudice. These things she has vowed to fight as the mighty Skylark.

Her upbringing and adaptation to life on Pretaor make Skylark naturally resistant to environmental extremes. But the real gift of her unique human/pertorian heritage is the ability to control and manipulate sound. Skylark can generate specific resonance frequencies that lift her off the ground and propel her through the air. She can isolate, direct, and amplify sounds to give herself superhuman hearing. And she can channel and direct sound waves into powerful blasts of sonic force.

These abilities are certainly useful when combating supervillains. But Skylark's favorite use of her power is to rest up upon a rooftop and listen to the city. She is listening for trouble and danger. But more that that, she savors listening in on the quiet conversations and simple moments of the people of Earth living the lives she has always dreamed of.

Gunsmith

The Weston family have been gun people going way back. For generations they've been soldiers and warriors. Firearms are just in their "blood and balls". Gunnar Weston served multiple combat tours in the US military before taking his skills and experience and putting them to work in weapons design. After his small firm lost out on bids to better-connected competition, Gunnar decided to put his designs to work fighting for truth, justice, and the American Way as the Gunsmith.

Some people might see a pistol-packing superhero as contradiction. Gunsmith is not one of those people. Sophisticated auto-loaders allow him to select the appropriate round for any situation. With his skills and integrated targeting system, Gunnar can place his shots with incredible precision. He takes pride in knowing the exact outcome from every round he fires and making sure his shots have the desired effect.

Gunsmith knows that use of lethal force comes with heighten responsibility. He takes that responsibility very seriously and is quite critical of any "hero", whether they use a firearm, fists, or a plasma beam, who does not.
